In the event the registration numbers of any of our playing levels exceed the maximum players allowed for one team, we will divide that team by implementing a draft.
Two-Team Structure – The decision to create two teams at each level is driven by several key factors:
Increased participation: The surge in registrations reflects growing interest in our program, allowing more young athletes to benefit from the WJFA experience.
Enhanced player development: Smaller team sizes ensure more individual attention and playing time for each athlete, fostering skill development and confidence.
Competitive balance: By creating two equally competitive teams, we maintain a challenging and fair environment for all players.
Safety considerations: Manageable team sizes allow for better supervision and implementation of our safety initiatives.
Team Formation Process – Ensures fairness and competitiveness, we have implemented a structured team formation process:
Head Coach collaboration: Coaches for each division meet to discuss registered players, focusing on creating balanced teams.
Equal ability distribution: The primary goal is to form teams with comparable skill levels, promoting fair competition and player growth.
Draft system: Coaches work together to draft players, distributing talent evenly across both teams.
Board oversight: The WJFA board reviews and approves final team rosters to ensure adherence to our equality principles.
Benefits of the Two-Team Structure – Aligns with WJFA's core mission and values:
Increased opportunities: More players can participate, learning football fundamentals and techniques in a safe environment.
Life skills development: The two-team system reinforces our commitment to fostering self-confidence, goal-setting, and teamwork.
Community building: Expanded participation strengthens ties within the Woodinville High School service area.
Competitive readiness: Equitable team formation prepares players for future competitive scenarios, both on and off the field.
